Your Impact As an Integration Specialist, you’ll play a key role in our Technology & Transformational Change portfolio, designing, developing, and maintaining integrations that connect our systems and deliver value to our members, staff, and partners. You’ll facilitate the integration of internal and external systems, evaluate and enhance existing solutions, and ensure robust, secure, and contemporary outcomes. Key Responsibilities Design: Translate business requirements into well‑documented, robust, and secure solutions. Ensure designs follow best practices and are peer‑reviewed for quality. Development: Build high‑quality APIs and integration solutions using TypeScript, Node.js, and Azure services. Write clear, resilient code and participate in code reviews. Performance & Scalability: Design and implement integration solutions that handle high transaction volumes, ensure low latency, and scale effectively to meet business growth. Testing & Release: Develop and document test cases, work with DevOps to establish CI/CD pipelines, and release production‑ready code following CAB processes. BAU Support: Diagnose and resolve business‑as‑usual issues, document resolution processes, and collaborate with stakeholders. Continuous Improvement: Evaluate existing solutions for enhancement, contribute to team and organisational direction, and maintain up‑to‑date documentation. What Makes You Great Experience: Minimum 5 years in software engineering and backend API integration. Technical Skills: Azure Cloud Services: Functions, Logic Apps, API Management, Service Bus/Event Grid, Storage, Active Directory. Monitoring & Logging: Azure Application Insights and distributed tracing for API observability. Integration Patterns: RESTful APIs, event‑driven and message‑based integration, microservices, data transformation (JSON/XML). Performance Engineering: Experience optimizing APIs and integrations for throughput, latency, and resilience under load. TypeScript & Node.js: Strong TypeScript skills, Node.js backend development, familiarity with npm/yarn and build tools. Security & Compliance: OAuth 2.0, JWT, API security best practices, Azure Key Vault, regulatory compliance understanding (CPS234, CIS, ISO). Development & DevOps: CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure as Code (Bicep, Terraform), Git, testing frameworks (Jest, Mocha). Other Technologies: Development experience with Azure services, Node.js, MSSQL, JSON (.NET may be beneficial). API Expertise: Thorough knowledge and experience designing, developing, and managing both REST and SOAP APIs, with various integration patterns. Network & Security: Knowledge and experience of modern network, API, and general web‑based security patterns and practices, with a working knowledge of Microsoft Azure infrastructure. Qualifications: Tertiary qualification in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field with experience in Integration and/or Software Development; or an equivalent combination of relevant knowledge and experience with API focus. Soft Skills: Problem‑solving with experience in supporting and triaging incidents and code defects, Agile/Scrum experience, effective cross‑team communication, stakeholder management, and documentation skills. Other Requirements: Flexibility to work outside ordinary hours when required and ability to pass a National Police Check. Experience with agile product development, infrastructure architecture, Open ID Connect, Consumer Data Rights, FAPI standards, and operating in regulated environments. Familiarity with performance testing tools (e.g., JMeter, k6, Gatling) and strategies for capacity planning and load balancing in Azure environments. Strong facilitation and presentation skills.
