Our strength lies with our people. About the role The VACCA Family Violence Program provides victim survivors of family violence. A range of support options are available that may include short, medium and long term casework. The role will build positive relationships and networks with relevant Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal organisations and services to ensure that appropriate referrals and supports are put in place. About You Demonstrated awareness and appreciation of Aboriginal societies and cultures, and commitment to continually build knowledge of such, along with a high level of awareness of the key issues which impact upon Aboriginal communities. Understanding the issues of family violence and the impact on women, children and families in an Aboriginal context. Ability to empower and advocate for clients with a non-judgemental approach. Knowledge of local family violence programs, accommodation, legal, health and community services within the region (or ability to quickly acquire). Ability to work collaboratively with other Aboriginal and mainstream organisations in formal and informal partnerships to achieve mutually agreed client/community outcomes. Ability to work independently and as a collaborative team member in a challenging environment, including the ability to prioritise workload and tasks effectively. Ability to mentor new and existing staff to develop their skills and knowledge relevant to their role. Requirements A bachelor’s degree in social work (or equivalent) or willingness to work toward the qualification in line with the mandatory minimum qualifications policy or significant lived experience relevant to the work. Where a degree is commenced but not completed, salary will be fixed at Award Level 4 until successful completion. Valid Police Check, a Working with Children’s Check for a paid employee (or willingness to obtain) and a Victorian Driver Licence. Current COVID-19 vaccination (Strongly Recommended).
