We are now looking for a Technical Business Analyst with a strong focus on Data Governance to join one of our strategic engagements in the utilities sector. This role is open to candidates based in Australia, even if the client is Tasmania‑based and offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the design and implementation of modern data governance frameworks within a large‑scale transformation program. Technical Business Analyst (Data Governance) As a Tech BA, you will act as the critical link between business and technology teams, working across multiple data streams to support the definition, documentation, and implementation of data governance practices. You will collaborate closely with data architects, governance leads, and business stakeholders to uplift enterprise‑wide data capabilities. This role requires strong data literacy, an understanding of governance principles, and a background in technology‑led projects. You’ll bring 4–5 years of experience, with exposure to data‑related programs, ideally within regulated or asset‑intensive industries. Key Responsibilities Gather, analyse, and document business and technical requirements related to data ownership, quality, lineage, and metadata. Support the rollout of data governance policies, roles, and workflows across business units. Work closely with Data Governance and Data Management teams to align business needs with enterprise data strategy. Assist in defining data domains, critical data elements, and stewardship responsibilities. Create clear and actionable documentation: business requirements, process flows, data dictionaries, and governance models. Support change management and stakeholder engagement to embed a culture of data accountability and transparency. Collaborate with technical teams to ensure governance models align with data platforms and architecture. Ideal Candidate Profile Must‑Haves 4–5 years’ experience as a Business Analyst or Tech BA in data‑centric projects. Understanding of Data Governance frameworks. Familiarity with governance tools (e.g., Collibra, Alation, Informatica). Experience working with data quality, metadata, lineage, and stewardship models. Excellent analytical and communication skills – able to bridge technical and business domains. Exposure to cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, or GCP) and modern data environments. Comfortable working in agile, cross‑functional teams within complex program environments. Based in Tasmania (or open to remote, one week per month on‑site in Tasmania). Nice to Have Experience in energy, utilities, or other regulated industries. Data modelling or SQL experience.
