Our practice advises on and manages litigated claims for major insurers, reinsurers and corporates across a wide variety of industries. We sit on the legal panels of three of Australia’s top four general insurers and other local and international insurers. The primary focus of this role will be defending claims against professionals in the construction, financial services, legal, health and medical sectors (medical malpractice). You will be responsible for and have carriage of your own files, with appropriate supervision from our supportive and industry‑leading partners. Responsibilities Client interaction and strategy development. Work with a team of lawyers. Review documents and prepare evidence. Draft correspondence to the court and third parties. Conference with witnesses and prepare witness statements. Prepare briefs for counsel. Draft court documents and attend court. Drafter client advices and letters of instruction to experts. About You At least five years’ PQE experience in general insurance law. Experience in professional indemnity matters. Proficient in drafting coverage advices. Experience in day‑to‑day file management and running matters through court proceedings. A team player with a ‘can do’ attitude and a strong interest in defendant insurance law. Excellent technical, analytical and drafting skills with keen attention to detail. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to organise and prioritise effectively.
