Job Description POSITION PURPOSE: The Theatre Technical Captain will be responsible for the safe coordination of all productions, activities and events hosted within the Theatre, including the setup of all sound, stage and lighting equipment. As a key role within the Theatre & Arts Team, the Theatre Technical Captain will liaise with production companies and hirers, and work relentlessly to deliver high quality productions that exceed audience expectations and showcase the Bay Pavilions as a premier arts destination. This position will work relentlessly to implement the Aligned Leisure purpose of CONNECTING TO THRIVE AND WIN, values of AWARE, DISCIPLINED, RELENTLESS and UNITED, and associated behaviours throughout the entire team. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Theatre preparation and operation Coordination of all sound, stage and lighting to ensure the theatre is ready for use by production companies and hirers, including technical design. Assist in the construction and/or sourcing of sets, staging and props for performances. Assist in the coordination of all set up, running and pack down for all events including the installation and dismantling of sets, equipment and displays, rigging or removal of theatre lights and/or sound equipment. Perform technical duties (and troubleshooting) for rehearsals and performances including control of lighting displays, audio/visual displays and stage machinery. Coordinate the rostering and task assignment for all Technical Officers when required. Liaise with production companies and relevant stakeholders in the delivery of all productions. Prepare accurate quotations for production companies and hirers, including costs for venue hire, labour, set design/equipment and other associated costs. Ensure all productions are conducted in a safe manner. Equipment maintenance and repair Coordinate a proactive routine maintenance plan to ensure that all aspects of the theatre are appropriately maintained and remain in safe working order. As required, coordinate reactive maintenance and repair activities within the theatre. Report preparation Ensure all reports, checklists and procedures are completed and signed off by the Duty Captain and Technical Officers. Outstanding service delivery to all customers and stakeholders Aligned Leisure will be renowned for delivering outstanding service and providing memorable experiences for our customers. This role will be relentless in identifying these opportunities and will always ask “How would I want a member of my family treated in this situation?” All Aligned Leisure staff will understand and deliver on our customer charter and service promise. The Theatre Technical Captain may from time to time be required to undertake other tasks as directed by the Head of Theatre & Arts. The Theatre Technical Captain must be available to work a mixture of early morning, daytime, evening and weekend shifts, and will be required to work at the majority of events hosted at the Theatre. Desired Skills and Experience ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE: Demonstrated experience of theatre operations including rigging, patching, focusing, maintenance and operation of lighting, rigging and operating audio systems, operation of staging equipment and machinery, set construction and maintenance techniques Experience in the repair and maintenance of technical equipment The position will be subject to relevant pre-employment checks and must maintain a current working with children check The successful applicant must hold or be willing to attain first aid and CPR qualifications PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES: Strong organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise and problem solve Excellent customer and communication skills Remains calm under pressure Understands/enjoys the Arts & Leisure Industry and motivated to serve Aligned Leisure #J-18808-Ljbffr
