Role Description This is a full‑time, on‑site Civil Operator role based in Melbourne, VIC. The Civil Operator will be responsible for operating and maintaining heavy machinery and equipment for civil infrastructure projects, including road and transportation systems. Key tasks include site preparation, trenching, excavation, and assisting in the construction and installation of infrastructure. The role requires collaboration with team members, adherence to safety protocols, reporting, and ensuring project deadlines and specifications are met. Qualifications Proficiency in operating and maintaining heavy machinery and equipment used in civil infrastructure projects. Knowledge of road infrastructure systems, including Traffic Signals, Public Lighting, and Intelligent Transport Systems, is an advantage. Familiarity with excavation, trenching, and site preparation processes. Ability to read and interpret drawings and have a sound understanding of underground services. Understanding of construction safety protocols and the ability to comply with safety standards. Strong communication and teamwork abilities, with a focus on collaboration and efficiency. Relevant certifications such as driver’s licence, heavy vehicle licence, VEDN, spotters and first aid are required. Previous experience in civil infrastructure or construction roles is highly desirable. Including trenching, laying and backfilling pipe, installation of pits and foundations etc. A strong work ethic, attention to detail, and commitment to delivering high‑quality outcomes. Ability to work in a team environment and follow instructions. Experience working in the electrical distribution network is highly desirable.
