ASIC is expanding its in‑house litigation team and is looking for highly skilled and experienced litigation lawyers to work on high‑profile regulatory litigation. Based in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide or Perth (other locations to be considered) $152,074 – $202,614 (depending on experience), plus 15.4% superannuation Permanent roles Applications close at 11:59pm AEDT, 21 December 2025 Team The Civil Litigation team leads ASIC's in‑house litigation practice. Our Litigation Counsel act as solicitor on the record and are responsible for the conduct of many of ASIC's high‑profile civil litigation regulatory matters in the High Court, Federal Court and State Supreme Courts. The team also manages external law firms engaged to act for ASIC, providing guidance on litigation strategy and case theories. Recent Litigation Examples 25‑063MR – Financial services provider penalised $11 million over “cookie‑cutter” advice and conflicted bonus payments | ASIC 25‑052MR – ASIC warns of threat from “hydra‑like” scammers after obtaining court orders to shut down 95 companies | ASIC 25‑017MR – AustralianSuper fined $27 million after ASIC investigation into failure to merge multiple superannuation accounts | ASIC 24‑274MR – Kraken crypto exchange operator to pay $8 million following ASIC enforcement action | ASIC 24‑228MR – Court rules Harvey Norman and Latitude advertising misled consumers | ASIC 24‑121MR – Court finds Active Super made misleading ESG claims in a greenwashing action brought by ASIC | ASIC About You Significant commercial/regulatory litigation experience (and admission to practice in the High Court, Federal Court and State Supreme Courts). Litigation Counsel applicants must hold unrestricted practising certificates and have experience managing complex litigation matters and leading teams of lawyers. Strong technical legal skills, ability to provide strategic direction in regulatory litigation matters, and a capacity to communicate with influence to a wide variety of audiences and high‑level organisational skills. A commitment to providing superior client service. A real interest in making a difference through important regulatory litigation with a consumer protection focus.
