This pivotal position is responsible for ensuring the long‑term financial sustainability and operational excellence of the College while supporting our commitment to deliver authentic Montessori education that empowers every student to thrive. Reporting to the Principal and working closely with the College Board, the Business Manager leads the Finance, Facilities, ICT and Administration functions. This role oversees budgeting, financial reporting, risk and compliance, procurement, capital projects, and business operations across both campuses. The Business Manager contributes to strong governance and drives innovation in systems and resource management. Melbourne Montessori College is an independent co‑educational school offering a seamless Montessori learning journey from Early Years through to the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP). Key Responsibilities Provide financial leadership, including budget development, forecasting, and transparent reporting to the Principal and Board Ensure effective risk management, compliance, and governance systems are maintained and continually strengthened Lead the operational functions of Finance, Facilities, ICT and Administration, ensuring efficiency and high‑quality service delivery Oversee capital projects and asset management across both campuses Develop strategic business plans that support sustainable growth and long‑term viability Build strong stakeholder relationships including external agencies, contractors, and the school community About You You are a proactive and values‑driven leader who thrives in a dynamic college environment. You demonstrate strong commercial acumen, are highly proficient in digital systems and technology platforms, and have a collaborative approach to problem‑solving. You are passionate about enabling positive outcomes through sound financial and operational stewardship. Qualifications & Experience Relevant tertiary qualifications in finance, business, accounting, or related fields CPA/CA qualification is strongly preferred Significant experience in financial management and operations leadership, ideally within an independent school or similar complex organisation Demonstrated experience in strategic planning, risk and compliance management, and capital project oversight Strong understanding of governance principles and reporting requirements Application Process To apply, please submit your resume and a cover letter.
