Location Profile Our school’s values are Resilient, Compassionate, Successful Citizens. Red Cliffs Secondary College is the only Year 7-12 Government Secondary College in the Mildura area and caters for students from a variety of socio-economic backgrounds. Whilst many families represent the agricultural and horticultural development of the surrounding areas, others reflect the range of professions living in the district. The College provides comprehensive and sequential courses for all years in the key curriculum areas. At senior year levels, students can select courses which guarantee pathways to further studies at University, TAFE, apprenticeships and employment. A range of VET subjects are available for students both onsite and through our education providers. The College has a very successful Arts program, particularly Music, Drama, Dance and Media Studies. All students have frequent opportunities to perform publicly at such events as Speech Night, Mildura Eisteddfods, or at our annual performance at the Mildura Arts Centre and community functions. Red Cliffs Secondary College is dedicated to developing and caring for the whole student, which is why we have a comprehensive curriculum, a broad co-curricular activities program, a clear student management policy and a dedicated well-being team. All areas work together to provide the best outcomes for all students. Red Cliffs Secondary College is also the auspicing school for the area’s Flexible Learning Option program, FLO Connect, which is located in Mildura. FLO provides alternative educational options for students from the schools across Mildura. FLO Connect works closely with a number of partners to ensure the student’s health and wellbeing needs are supported with their educational plan. Selection Criteria Demonstrated knowledge and skills to successfully guide and support students through careers and pathways plans (SC1). Detail-oriented with excellent time management, planning and organisational skills (SC2). Calm, confident, diplomatic, and positive approach to working with students and collaborating with staff and others (SC3). Comfortable working independently and collaboratively (SC4). Demonstrated commitment to professional learning and growth for both self and others (SC5). Certificate IV in Career Development or higher, preferred (SC6). Role Range 3 is distinguished by the introduction of management responsibility and accountability for the delivery of professional support services. The role will usually impact beyond the work area or professional field. It seeks to gain cooperation of other staff members or members of the school community to achieve specific objectives, such as in school administration, operations or educational programs. Direction on targets and goals is provided but the position will have some degree of latitude in determining how they are achieved. This latitude will generally be limited by standard procedures and school policy. Deviation from standard procedures and school policy will require guidance and direction from senior management. The provision of business management responsibilities becomes a feature at range 3. Management of staff to achieve the expected outcomes is a key responsibility. Staff management issues will be resolved with minimal reference to senior management, although guidance will be required in more complex cases. Senior management will be provided with timely reports and advice, although this will generally be confined to matters relating to the immediate work area, service provision or educational program and is unlikely to impact substantially on whole of school operations. This is the minimum range for positions that carry a mandatory qualification requirement of not less than four years. Professional student support positions become a feature at range 3 (e.g. therapists, psychologists) where standard professional services are delivered. Professional support and guidance will be close at hand and deviation from standard procedures and school policy will require guidance and direction from senior management. An education support class position supports the educational services being provided to students, but must not include duties of teaching as defined in clause 2.6.1 of the Education and Training Reform Act 2006 (Vic) or its successor. Supervision of students cannot be required except where it is an integral part of the employee’s position or involves supervision of students individually or in small groups, in controlled circumstances, where the responsibility for students remains clearly with a teacher. Responsibilities Responsibility for the Work Experience and Structured Workplace Learning (SWL) Placement programs, including compliance with legal requirements. Oversee record-keeping related to VETDSS, such as student participation in VETDSS, Memorandums of Understanding, work placement related to VETDSS, student participation in other recognised vocational training. Oversee record-keeping of student attendance at external VETDSS courses (the external providers fax or email weekly attendance lists) and that records are passed on to Coordinators or attendance officer where an absence is recorded. Be the first point of contact for disputes, grievances and complaints that are initiated by the Training Organisation or student/s. Work with the Business Manager to calculate costs that need to be charged for VETDSS programs, considering aspects such as: auspicing costs, cost of materials, fees charged by external providers and Government funding offsets. Monitor and alert teachers to changes to VETDSS curriculum arising from the reaccreditation of certificate courses. Entering and maintaining VETDSS Enrolments on VASS in a timely manner.
