Leading Hand – Water Infrastructure Services At Water Infrastructure Services (WIS), we play a crucial role in protecting and maintaining Queensland’s most important asset – its water. As a specialist contractor, we deliver renewal and maintenance works on large‑scale water reservoirs and infrastructure across South-East Queensland. Our projects include roof replacements, structural repairs, platform installations, concreteworks and full refurbishments on both potable and raw‑water assets. About the Role We are seeking a proactive and hands‑on Leading Hand to join our field team. In this role you will both supervise and work alongside your crew to deliver critical maintenance and construction works on reservoirs. Weekly you’ll head out to varied sites across South‑East Queensland—new challenges, new scopes, and a chance to make an impact. The role includes a full company vehicle, all necessary tools and gear, and the opportunity to work across sites from Brisbane down to the Sunshine Coast, Toowoomba and beyond. Key Responsibilities Lead and support a small team to deliver construction and maintenance works to a high standard. Perform hands‑on work including roofing, structural repairs, installations and asset maintenance. Coordinate materials, equipment and resources in collaboration with Project Managers or Site Foremen. Monitor productivity, provide guidance and mentor less‑experienced team members. Identify and address on‑site challenges to maintain workflow and quality outcomes. Uphold and promote strict adherence to health, safety and environmental regulations. Typical Daily Tasks You may be involved in: Painting, pressure‑washing and surface preparation. Re‑sheeting, roof replacements and structural repairs. Concrete works and general labouring duties. Pipe‑work installation and reservoir refurbishment projects. What We Are Looking For Proven experience as a Leading Hand or Supervisor in construction or asset‑maintenance (water industry experience is highly regarded). Strong technical knowledge of construction methods, materials, and asset maintenance. Excellent communication and leadership skills – able to motivate, guide and collaborate with your team. Sound problem‑solving ability and good judgement in fast‑paced environments. Commitment to safety, compliance and quality workmanship. Confined Space and Working at Heights qualifications (or willingness to obtain). A proactive, “can‑do” attitude and pride in delivering a job well done.
