Software Engineer - .NET/AWS at Origin Energy Full‑time permanent position – CBD location. Choose from Sydney, Melbourne or Brisbane. Own end‑to‑end projects shaping critical energy trading and risk systems. About the role ETRM‑IT (Energy Trading Risk Management) develops a custom‑built software that enables Origin’s asset portfolio to interact promptly and robustly with the energy markets. You will join a high‑performing team of 2–3 squads that includes developers, testers, business analysts and a delivery manager to provide ongoing support and maintenance. Roles & Responsibilities Own end‑to‑end technical solutions, including design, in‑depth code‑level analysis, development, testing and deployment of ETRM IT systems across cloud and on‑prem environments. Deliver expert 2nd and 3rd‑level application support, driving automation to reduce manual processes and improve system reliability in line with service level agreements. Design, develop and implement advanced enhancements and technical solutions that strengthen and modernise both on‑premise and cloud‑based platforms. Collaborate closely with business and technical stakeholders, clearly communicating technical approaches, timelines and progress to ensure alignment and business impact. Drive continuous improvement by proactively identifying opportunities to optimise systems, streamline processes and enhance documentation and operational practices. Build trusted partnerships across teams, promoting a responsive, high‑performance service culture that supports Origin’s dynamic business environment. Skills & Requirements Demonstrated experience developing applications using the Microsoft .NET framework, with strong expertise in C# and related technologies. Demonstrated experience working with cloud platforms (AWS or Azure), ideally including serverless technologies such as Lambda. Advanced SQL skills and experience with Microsoft SQL Server, including database design and optimisation. Deep understanding of software development best practices, design patterns and modern engineering methodologies. Strong problem‑solving skills with the ability to design robust, scalable and maintainable solutions. Excellent communication skills, able to clearly articulate complex technical concepts to both technical and non‑technical stakeholders. Self‑motivated, adaptable and committed to continuous improvement, with a willingness to participate in an after‑hours support roster.
