Garment Technician

As the Garment Technician at VRG GRL you will play a crucial role in the technical development and production of garments from initial design concept through to final production. This role requires a strong understanding of garment construction, pattern making, and fitting, as well as the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously. You will have experience in the fashion industry, excellent attention to detail, and a passion for delivering high-quality products. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Alongside the product developer, create technical packs including size specifications, fit comments, grading rules and tolerances for all styles - including colour ups Attend fit sessions, provide technical knowledge, check finishes and measure samples Work closely with the production and design team to ensure all updated tech packs are sent out on deadlines set Negotiating costs where applicable Ensure all bulk fabrics are approved Work closely with the Production team on timelines and Ex factory dates Ensure all fits and bulk shipment comments are sent out on time and to the VRG GRL standard Communicate clear and detailed instructions to offshore manufacturers throughout the sampling and bulk process Maintain fit, construction, and workmanship standards to ensure consistency across all factories Ensure various garment labelling, tags and trims are correct Communicate all issues clearly to the Production team Follow up on all samples, ensuring all deadlines are met. Administration support; updating all platforms where necessary and helping the production team where on any ADHOC tasks Maintain a strong relationship with current factories, ensuring a high quality standard of product is delivered Monitor production samples for consistency and quality, ensuring all garments meet required specifications and standards. ABOUT YOU Studied Fashion Technology, Apparel Design, or related fields. 3-5 years experience as a Garment Technician or similar role in the fashion/apparel industry. Strong understanding of fabric properties, trims, and garment production processes. Excellent attention to detail and ability to translate designs into accurate technical specifications. Strong communication and problem-solving skills to work effectively with internal teams and external manufacturers. Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, meeting deadlines, in a fast-paced environment. ABOUT US A growing global fashion retailer started in Brisbane, Australia.
