At ShopGrok, data is at the heart of what we do. We are scaling rapidly and investing heavily in the design and architecture of our data infrastructure to support growth. Your primary focus will be on SQL development in Snowflake and building robust data platforms that can handle increasing volume and complexity. You will also support our customers by ensuring data integrity and performance across our systems. While this role is primarily backend-focused, experience with tools like Alteryx and Tableau, and comfort working with customers, are still valuable bonuses. Experience working with retail data is a strong plus. What you’ll do: Collaborate with the Founder, COO, and Data Engineering team to design and implement scalable data infrastructure. Focus on Snowflake SQL development, data modelling, and performance tuning. Lead platform redesign efforts to improve scalability, reliability, and automation. Support customer analytics teams by ensuring clean, accurate, and timely data. Maintain and enhance existing SQL datasets, pipelines, and workflows. Introduce new tools and practices to help us stay ahead as we grow. Work with our core stack: Snowflake (SQL) , GCP (Cloud) , with exposure to Alteryx (ETL) and Tableau (Visualisation) . Eligibility Open to candidates residing in Sydney, Australia with full Australian working rights. Essential Skills Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, Data Analytics, or related field. Deep expertise in SQL (2+ years), with experience building performant, scalable pipelines and data models. Strong understanding of data architecture and platform design for scalability. Experience with cloud data platforms, ideally GCP or similar. Ability to work independently and take ownership of complex backend projects. Highly proficient in data cleansing including regex, data transpose / crosstab, join, group, union, etc Good stakeholder management skills Good written and verbal communication skills Other Highly Desirable Skills Experience with Alteryx or other ETL tools. Experience creating data visualisations with Tableau or similar BI platforms. Knowledge of retail data sets and use cases. Comfort interacting with stakeholders and supporting customer analytics teams. About you Technical: You are passionate about backend data engineering, SQL optimisation, and building scalable systems.
