About The Role This role is responsible for referral intake, completing assessments and responding to immediate needs for Aboriginal clients seeking support through the Orange Door Hub. The Hub consists of a multidisciplinary team delivering high‑quality, safe and effective responses to Aboriginal women, children, men and families seeking support and safety. The practitioner will provide short‑term support and refer clients to agencies for further supports where needed. Working within a partnership Aboriginal team between VACCA and Boondarwan Wilam Healing Services, the role will operate alongside mainstream agencies and engage in client screening, triaging, risk assessment, crisis response, service planning and targeted intervention response. About You Demonstrated commitment and understanding of VACCA’s values Knowledge of the Family Violence and Child Protection sectors and experience working with Aboriginal families and children Experience with intake processes and comprehensive assessments to determine client needs and formulate interventions Proven skills in case management, including goal identification and care planning, and the ability to respond to crisis situations effectively Proficiency in preparing accurate documents and reports in a timely manner Strong cultural‑appropriate communication skills with individuals, families and professionals Experience in Child Well‑being assessments and Family Violence risk assessments, with knowledge or willingness to learn the Best Interest Case Practice Model and the Family Violence Multi‑Agency Risk Assessment Management (MARAM) Framework, applying a cultural lens Qualifications: a degree in social work or equivalent, valid Police Check, Working with Children’s Check (or willingness to obtain) and a Victorian Driver Licence. Current COVID‑19 vaccination is strongly recommended.
