Omnia Inclusive Employment Solutions – Orange NSW As an NDIS Youth Assistant, you will play a critical role in supporting young individuals with disabilities under the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS). You will assist in fostering independence, improving their quality of life, and facilitating participation in community activities. This part‑time position requires compassion, patience, and a commitment to empowering youth through personalized assistance and support. Key Responsibilities: Provide direct support to young NDIS participants in daily activities, including personal care, social interaction, and community engagement. Assist in the development and implementation of individual support plans tailored to the needs and goals of each participant. Help participants build life skills, including communication, mobility, and self‑care. Act as an advocate for participants’ needs and preferences, ensuring their voices are heard and respected. Facilitate group activities and social outings to enhance social skills and community involvement. Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date records of participant progress and document any changes in their support needs. Collaborate with families, other support staff, and community services to ensure holistic support for participants. Stay informed about current best practices in disability support and participate in ongoing training and professional development. Required Skills: Strong interpersonal and communication skills to connect with young individuals and their families. Ability to work effectively in a team environment and collaborate with various stakeholders. Basic understanding of the NDIS framework and policies, particularly those relevant to youth and disabilities. Competence in using technology for documentation and communication. Empathy, patience, and a passion for working with young people with diverse needs. Strong problem‑solving skills and the ability to adapt to changing circumstances. Qualifications: Previous experience in youth work, disability support, or a related field is preferred. Certificate III or IV in Disability, Youth Work, Community Services, or a related qualification is desirable. A valid Working with Children Check and National Police Check. First Aid and CPR certification is an advantage. Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
