Key Responsibilities The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the equity research team in a broad range of areas including: Execution and processing of trades across the portfolio (executing trades on market); Maintaining the firm’s proprietary risk management framework and portfolio performance reporting; Conducting research and writing reports on portfolio names, new investment ideas and presenting these to the Investment Committee. Our goal is to assist you in building skills across idea generation, analytics and evaluation, risk management and the behavioural awareness of investing with an aim of becoming a contributing member of the Investment team. Experience The following attributes and experience will be important: A genuine curiosity and strong problem-solving skills High level of attention to detail to minimise error rates Proactively suggesting improvements to processes The ability to absorb data/information, then filter out the signal from the noise. An ability to communicate succinctly The ability to multitask efficiently A love of numbers and an understanding of basic accounting methods & statements. The courage to ask questions, debate findings and iterate on outcomes. An openness to change, and ability to admit mistakes. The ability to work in a team and be coachable Life skills & experience are viewed positively – travel, hobbies, design, community service, entrepreneurship. Qualifications and Skills Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field; Experience: One to Three years’ experience in a commercial finance role, with a background in financial modelling and analysis would be advantageous The experience Harper Bernays will provide You will be reporting to a Portfolio Manager but have access to learn from the entire highly experienced investment team. You will also see right across the investment process as well as the broader investment management business.
