Food Safety and Quality Assurance Manager

Food Safety and Quality Assurance Manager Tutori Pty Ltd is a privately owned company with facilities in Victoria, Queensland and NSW, providing a full range of raw and cooked food solutions across a range of proteins and foods to retail and food service. This role is at our Eagle Farm site in Queensland. You will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the team and the food safety and quality systems at this complex and multifaceted further processing site. This role will report to the GM Food Safety, and Sustainability with a day-to-day working relationship with the Site Manager and other functions on site including Operations / Engineering / Sales / NPD / Finance / WHS / Supply Chain. The ideal applicant will have extensive people management and customer experience at senior level ideally in animal protein and be looking to expand and develop their experience and opportunities working in a multi-discipline operation. Key Responsibilities Through day-to-day management of tasks and coordination of activities, provide assurance that site food safety and quality outcomes are met for legislation, customer standards and internal quality systems. Ensure data is truthful, has integrity and is clear in its presentation as it relates to the above activities. Manage, lead, coach and nurture the Food Safety and Quality team. Promote, lead and influence alongside the rest of the technical team a strong food safety culture onsite with full implementation of all corporate expectations. Assess and communicate and where necessary and escalate risks in food safety and quality. Continued minimisation and mitigation of risk through risk-based decision making and analysis. Implement Continuous Improvement Initiatives and fully support Change Management initiatives on site for food safety and quality perspective. Ensure a working knowledge and implementation of the Food Safety and Quality Management System on a day-to-day basis. Help the team ensure Food Safety and Quality standards, parameters and specifications for all products produced by the Company are provided to production staff and that verification is conducted. Assist as required with onsite visits with major customers. Be an auditee as required for site audits. Coordinate and sign off on customer / consumer complaints as required. Contribute to the internal audit programme ensuring robustness, preventing and escalating risks. Contribute to Training (and induction) for the site to ensure sufficient knowledge across the business. Provide full risk assessment and risk management options in the event of any process deviations. Knowledge / Experience, Skills and Qualifications Tertiary qualification in Food science, Biotechnology or similar industry experience / qualification. Excellent working knowledge of HACCP, and Quality / Risk Management Programmes. Extensive and relevant industry experience 10+ years / qualification preferably a range of animal protein experience. Understanding of how supplier raw material performance can affect outcomes. Ability to develop and maintain food safety and quality systems. Extensive People Management and Leadership Experience in senior role. Extensive Experience in Managing External / Customer Audits. Ability to analyse and present data in a professional manner. Experience influencing developing and teaching others. Good oral and written communication and people skills. Experience in building strong teams. Business and Commercial Acumen. Well organized and able to work to agreed timelines with minimal supervision. Ability to understand risk and opportunity as it applies not just to Food Safety and Quality but to wider business. Data Analysis and Presentation Skills.
