Machinery – operate and maintain mintingcritical machines. Coin Sculpting – design coins, medals,medallions, and token, etc. Graphic Design – design coin packagingmaterials, exhibition graphics, etc. Engineering – technical support andmanufacturing operations. Branch Overview The Mint Systems and Quality Branch supports the Mint’s mission and purpose by optimising the interactions between systems, people and equipment in pursuit of health, safety, environment and quality (HSEQ) outcomes alongside organisational performance. We do this by developing and maintaining contemporary practices and support the organisation to apply them in their work activities. We develop and maintain the Integrated Management System – a unified framework with the intent to streamline processes, focus on improving performance and achieving compliance. We apply our technical expertise to develop and maintain management practices, support the workforce in their use and analyse their performance for improvement. Our technical domains are risk health and safety, product quality and environment. About the Role Working under limited direction and reporting to the Work Health and Safety Manager the Senior Work Health and Safety Officer will be responsible for the design, delivery and implementation of a psychosocial risk management approach at the Mint. The successful candidate will lead the identification, assessment, and management of psychosocial hazards across the agency by developing procedures, performing risk assessments, designing and implementing survey’s and delivering training. The role supports managers and employees in building a psychologically safe workplace through evidence-based strategies, consultation, and compliance with the Work Health and Safety Act 2011 and associated Regulations. The Mint’s workplace has a range of unique health and safety aspects such as hazardous chemicals and materials, public safety, plant and equipment, and infrastructure. The Senior WHS Officer promotes safe work practices across the Mint. They perform research and apply their technical knowledge to provide advice regarding risks to employees in their work area. They are responsible for engaging with internal and external stakeholders including regulators, inspectors and auditors. The Senior WHS Officer analyses data and identifies improvement opportunities across the integrated management system, developing objectives for short term tasks and contributing to the strategic planning of the Mint Systems and Quality branch. They coordinate procurement activities in accordance with Commonwealth Procurements Rules to meet the objectives of the Health and Safety Work Plan. The Senior WHS Officer is also responsible for managing site wide events which may include National Safety Week, and other wellbeing activities as determined by the Mint’s Health and Safety Work Plan. The duties of this position include: Developing and implementing a psychosocial riskapproach including the development of procedures, surveys, riskassessments and implementing controls relevant to psychosocial risk while providing relevant advice to managers and employees. Conducting and providing support to the developmentof psychosocial risk assessments in consultation with managers,Health and Safety Representatives (HSRs), and staff. Analysing incident, leave, and survey data todetect emerging psychosocial risks or trends. Developing and implementing control measures toeliminate or minimise psychosocial hazards. Developing and delivering training on thepsychosocial risk approach. Maintaining a psychosocial risk register andcontributing to WHS and wellbeing performance reports. Evaluating effectiveness of control measures andidentifying improvement opportunities. Supporting the WHS Manager in the delivery of thehealth and safety work plan. Supporting the MSQ branch as required, includingundertaking cross-functional tasks. Security clearance This position requires a Baseline security clearance.
