The Role The Forensic Clinician for the NSW CFMHS Treatment and Rehabilitation Clinic (TRC) is primarily responsible for working in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team (MDT) that includes a forensic psychiatrist, in conducting forensic assessments of high-risk patients with complex problem behaviours including fixated behaviours. The Forensic Clinician’s primary responsibility will be to provide consultation, liaison, co-care coordination, and evidence-based clinical services in collaboration with a forensic psychiatrist, to patients who are residing in the community and/or for the purpose of accessing appropriate interventions or care in the community setting. The role is responsible for delivering recovery focussed specialist forensic care, which considers patient's clinical, psychosocial, behavioural, and risk vulnerabilities while applying best practice clinical tools. The Forensic Clinician is a multidisciplinary position, that may be appropriate for a Clinical Nurse Consultant, Clinical or Forensic Psychologist, Occupational Therapist or Social Worker with the requisite forensic skills and experience. The position is primarily located at the TRC in Surry Hills, but the Forensic Clinician will be expected to travel to other sites, including community sites and Sydney Olympic Park as required. The TRC is one of three services within the NSW Community Forensic Mental Health Service (CFMHS). The TRC adopts a multi-disciplinary, collaborative model of care focused on recovery, rehabilitation, and community safety. It provides evidence-based biopsychosocial treatment and rehabilitation services to support people in achieving recovery from complex disorders that result in problematic behaviours including offending. Essential Requirements For Allied Health staff - minimum of five years full time equivalent post-bachelor qualification experience, with at least two years full time equivalent experience in the field of forensic mental health. Occupational Therapist - Bachelor or postgraduate degree in occupational therapy and holds general registration with Occupational Therapy Board of Australia under Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA). To be appointed as a Level 5 Occupational Therapist, evidence must be provided of minimum three years' clinical experience as an Occupational Therapist and demonstrated experience of extensive specialist knowledge or a high level of broad generalist knowledge within the discipline as defined by the award definitions of a Level 5 Health Professional. Social Worker - Bachelor or postgraduate degree in social work and holds professional membership or be eligible for full membership with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW). To be appointed as a Level 5 Social Worker, evidence must be provided of minimum three years' clinical experience as a Social Worker and demonstrated experience of extensive specialist knowledge or a high level of broad generalist knowledge within the discipline as defined by the award definitions of a Level 5 Health Professional. Forensic/Clinical Psychologist - Master’s degree or higher in forensic or clinical psychology that is accredited by the Australian Psychology Accreditation Council and holds full registration with the Psychology Board of Australia (AHPRA) with forensic or clinical area of practice endorsement. Approved or eligible for approval as a Psychology Board of Australia approved supervisor For Nursing staff – current unrestricted authority to practice as a registered nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and who has at least five years full time equivalent post registration experience, with at least three years' fulltime equivalent experience in mental health and approved post registration tertiary qualification in mental health. Possesses the attributes to undertake and meet the Domains and Functions of Clinical Nurse Consultant - Grade 2 as per IB2017_002. The Clinical Nurse Consultant practices in accordance with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia Professional Standards, including Nurses Standards for Practice, Code of ethics for Nurses and Code of Professional Conduct for Nurses to deliver professional, competent care in line with public expectations. Extensive knowledge and demonstrated experience in forensic mental health practice including risk assessment, clinical risk management, and consultation / liaison with stakeholders.
