What you'll be doing
The Emergency Medicine Research Special Skills Placement (SSP) Trainee aims to give Australasian College for Emergency Medicine (ACEM) trainees a solid foundation in emergency and critical care research; the placement will prepare trainees for a future in emergency practice focused on the generation, synthesis, and translation of scientific evidence.
The trainee is to provide safe and high-quality care, assess and manage, under supervision, patients presenting to the Emergency Department and admitted to inpatient wards when rotating to inpatient specialities. The trainee needs to be aware of their limitations and work in a collegiate and collaborate manner.
The position supports meeting the requirements for provisional training with the Australasian College for Emergency Medicine (ACEM).
- MBBS or equivalent, currently registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently in a supervised environment and work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team with an understanding of the roles of the doctor and other members of the healthcare team.
- Demonstrated high level written and verbal communication skills and ability to communicate effectively and respectfully with patients, family members and other members of the health care team.
- Demonstrated good organisational and time management skills and ability to manage competing priorities in a complex environment.
- Demonstrated commitment to quality improvement, patient safety and risk management.
- Demonstrated evidence of continuing professional development and commitment to self-education.
