Senior Legal Counsel Company: Gentrack Ltd (Global) Location: Melbourne, Victoria, Australia Join Gentrack, a global leader in utilities transformation, as a Senior Legal Counsel to provide strategic legal guidance for our Australian business and support bid responses, contract negotiations, and regulatory compliance. Role Overview You will play a key advisory role in all aspects of our legal and commercial requirements for the AU business, serving a growing pipeline of large energy retail opportunities and helping the company win new business across APAC. Responsibilities Take a leading role working alongside sales and leadership in bid response and contract negotiation. Work with Professional Services teams to produce realistic Statements of Work outlining deliverables, timelines, costings, milestones, and cash flow. Ensure close response and contract alignment with Gentrack methodologies and risk policies. Lead negotiation of terms and conditions of contracts with customers, suppliers, vendors, contractors, etc. Contribute to strategic initiatives, ensuring alignment with Gentrack values and vision. Collaborate with senior legal leadership to identify, plan, and implement continuous improvement within origination, such as new precedent documents and legal policies. Support the Australia business and have opportunity to work on matters throughout APAC. Co-ordinate compilation of successful bid responses to tenders, providing direct support to customers where required. Own sundry contracts such as leases, NDAs, supplier contracts, partnership agreements, sub-contracts, and internal compliance processes related to legal and regulatory requirements. Qualifications 5–10 years of relevant legal experience (PQE) with a solid understanding of Australian contractual law. Willingness to grow expertise; software vendor experience highly regarded, utilities experience desirable. Strong negotiation, drafting, and analytical skills. Proactive self-starter able to manage day-to-day tasks with high autonomy. Ability to collaborate across teams and provide clear, actionable legal advice. Proven ability to build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders. Relevant tertiary education required; a legal qualification highly desirable.
