The Service The Footprints to Stronger Families is an Indigenous Advancement Strategy (IAS) program that provides intensive family support, early intervention and community-based support for at-risk Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, young people, and their families which will enhance pathways to education and employment and reduce substance abuse, violence and contact with the criminal justice system. The Role Working with individuals and their families to improve outcomes, support to access relevant services, advocacy and referral pathways. In addition, provide education to groups and plan and engage in community events including but not limited to NAIDOC, Aboriginal Children's Day, White Ribbon Day, Mental Health week and Carers Week. You will have the commitment to strengthening social and emotional wellbeing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. A Few Specifics Complete intake and assessment of families and children to identify needs. Develop support plans with the client which identify individual goals. Provide practical supports and referrals to appropriate services. Assist with the development of family camps, women’s groups and youth groups. Plan and participate in community events. Assist to write six monthly reports as directed by Program Manager. About You Degree in Psychology or Social Work or equivalent. Minimum Diploma in Aboriginal Studies, Community Services or equivalent. Experience and knowledge working with Aboriginal individuals, families and communities. Experience in a community services program (desirable). Experience in administration and case management. Experience living and working in a remote / regional community. Exhibit a client-centered, conscientious care approach. Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills. Working with Children Check. National Police Certificate. Benefits Regional zone allowance included in the annual remuneration package. Accommodation support of $300 per week for 12 weeks. Comprehensive training and professional development. Four weeks annual leave inclusive of a 17.5% leave loading. Five days additional paid leave pro rata. Twelve weeks paid maternity leave. Discounted corporate health cover by Bupa and Medibank.
