Our restaurant has built a strong reputation for quality food, warm service, and memorable experiences — and we’re looking for a Head Chef who will carry that forward. We are seeking a hands‑on, creative and community‑minded Head Chef who genuinely cares about delivering food that brings people together. This role suits someone who wants to lead a kitchen, craft menus that go beyond traditional club fare, and be known locally for exceptional cooking. Your Role: You will lead the Songbirds kitchen and ensure every plate reflects our reputation for quality and consistency. Key Responsibilities: Leading the kitchen team across lunch and dinner services. Creating seasonal menus, signature dishes, and specials that showcase creativity and fresh ideas. Ensuring food safety standards are always met. Managing stock ordering, quality checks, and cost control. Preparing rosters aligned with service needs and budget. Reducing wastage through smart kitchen operations. Completing monthly stocktakes and quarterly food safety audits. Delegating daily tasks and supporting team performance. Mentoring apprentices and developing your team’s skills. Working closely with the Venue Manager, Mikael, and Restaurant Manager, Amy, to support daily operations. What We’re Looking For: Proven experience as a Head Chef leading a busy kitchen team. Ability to work flexibly across seven days. Strong communication skills and a positive approach with both FOH and BOH teams. Excellent time management and the ability to stay organized during busy periods. High attention to detail and dedication to quality. Creativity, passion and a desire to produce memorable dishes. Up-to-date knowledge of food trends, techniques and food safety.
