Senior Manager, Energy Security & Emergency Management – Energy Operations/Energy Division

- Salary relative to experience, and ranges from $161,614 to $179,232 + super (EO14)

DCCEEW conserves and protects the state’s natural environment. It manages the NSW national park estate, including its rich and diverse biodiversity and Aboriginal cultural heritage for future generations. It also ensures sustainable management of water resources across the state, to support the environment, communities and industry.

About the role
The Senior Manager Energy Security and Emergency Management (SMESEM) role is a highly unique advisory and leadership role within DCCEEW. The SMESEM is a key advisor and leader, leading a team of professionals across the Energy Security and Emergency Management portfolios relating to electricity, gas, liquid fuels, water and wastewater.
This role is responsible for:
- Providing Energy Security and Emergency Management subject matter advice, guidance, and direction to the Energy and Utility Services Functional Area Coordinator (EUSFAC), Jurisdictional Security Systems Coordinator (JSSC) and other Departmental executives.
- Ensuring the Energy Security and Emergency Management team supports the EUSFAC and JSSC in meeting their legislated responsibilities.
- Leading, managing and coordinating the ongoing planned and unplanned work programs of the Energy Security and Emergency Management portfolio - this includes annual readiness program, the Energy and Utility Services Functional Area (EUSFA) Duty Officer and Liaison Officer programs.
About you
The ideal candidate is a seasoned energy professional. Experience within the electricity sector, specifically the generation and/or transmission operational environment is highly regarded. Experience in the gas sector as an operational professional would also be looked upon favourably. You will be experience in leading a high performing team in a complex, high pressured and time sensitive environment and have brilliant stakeholder relationship development and management skills. Exposure to energy and/or utility sector incident and emergency response methodology and an understanding of the NSW emergency management arrangements would be beneficial but not necessary. You are seeking your next challenge where you are willing to learn new subject matter and develop existing energy related skills whilst being in a senior leadership role.
Essential Requirements
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in energy/utility subject matter and/or emergency management or other related field and/or equivalent experience.
NOTE: The Senior Manager will be available to be rostered on call, 24/7, to coordinate the response to potential and actual, significant energy security and supply interruptions in NSW which occur with little or no warning and require urgent resolution.
