Tree Risk Management Officer About The Role The Tree Risk Management Officer plays a critical role in implementing, assessing, and managing the Council's tree assets. This position requires a proactive approach to tree risk management and the ability to provide expert advice to both internal and external customers. You will be responsible for conducting arboricultural assessments, addressing customer requests, and ensuring compliance with policies and legislation related to tree management. Your efforts will directly contribute to public safety and the conservation of our natural resources. This position is required to provide quality customer service and create value for the community. Responsibilities Utilise your arboriculture expertise to assess and manage tree works compliance across the Central Coast. Be part of a collaborative team that values continuous improvement and customer service excellence. Address customer requests and provide expert advice on tree risk management. Conduct arboricultural assessments and ensure compliance with relevant policies and legislation. Gather evidence for unauthorised tree works and support compliance matters. Specify tree maintenance works and audit work during and after completion, ensuring compliance with safety and environmental policies. Apply appropriate industry standards and practices to identify and assess trees relating to tree health, structure, and risk. Maintain knowledge of Local Government Act, State Environmental Planning Policy (Biodiversity and Conservation) 2021, LEPs, and DCPs and their relation to tree management and protection. Qualifications An AQF Level 5 qualification in Arboriculture – Diploma in Arboriculture with significant experience in tree assessment and management, combined with ongoing professional development. A qualification in an industry recognised tree risk methodology (e.g., TRAQ, QTRA, Valid). A current Class C Drivers Licence. Experience in the identification and assessment of trees relating to tree health, structure, and risk, applying appropriate industry standards and practices. Demonstrated knowledge and experience in specifying tree maintenance works and undertaking audits of work during and after completion, ensuring compliance with safety and environmental policies and procedures. Demonstrated experience in gathering evidence for unauthorised tree works and providing technical support in compliance matters. Understanding of the Local Government Act, State Environmental Planning Policy (Biodiversity and Conservation) 2021, LEPs, and DCPs and its relation to tree management and protection. Compensation and Work Conditions The commencing salary for this position is up to $83.2k per year. Central Coast Council also provides progression opportunities for employees to progress up to the maximum salary of $96.4k on completion of assessment of skills and performance plus 12% superannuation. Permanent full‑time role with a 9‑day fortnight and a leaseback vehicle, or a vehicle allowance of $207.31 per week until a new vehicle is available.
