Job Description AECOM’s environmental practice is dedicated to helping industries, clients and governments meet their environmental responsibilities while protecting the natural environment. We provide advisory and technical services to ensure compliance, manage impacts, and reduce risks, including obtaining permits and approvals, decommissioning and restoring contaminated sites, and tackling climate change challenges and resilience. Location This role is based in Newcastle, NSW. How you’ll make a difference Delivery of air quality impact assessments, monitoring and management programs and related technical studies, ensuring high technical standards and timely delivery. Manage air quality projects from initiation to completion as part of a team of air quality professionals, including client engagement, reporting and proposal development. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across AECOM’s business lines, including a strong national and international Air Quality practice. Contribute to greenhouse gas and carbon accounting projects. Supporting business development activities for the Air Quality practice along with technical profile raising activities to grow personal capabilities. Qualifications The qualities that help you thrive The following qualifications and experience are highly desired, but if you don’t tick all the boxes you could still be a perfect fit for this role. Bachelor’s degree in Science, Engineering, Environmental Management or a related discipline with 2+ years’ experience in air quality or environmental consulting. Proficiency in air quality dispersion modelling (e.g. CALPUFF, AERMOD) with experience in GRAL or WRF viewed favourably. Experience developing emission inventories, including the use of Excel for emissions estimation calculations. Strong technical writing and communication skills, with experience preparing reports (e.g. Air Quality Impact Assessments, Air Quality Management Plans), proposals and engaging directly with clients. Familiarity with greenhouse gas or carbon accounting and air quality monitoring. Abilities in GIS (e.g. ArcGIS Pro, Q-GIS) and programming (e.g. R, Python) would be viewed favourably.
