Job Details Employment Type: Temporary Full Time up to 30 June 2027 Position Classification: Health Manager Level 1 Remuneration: 87,813 - 116,824 full time equivalent base salary range (excludes super, leave loading and salary packaging) Hours Per Week: 38 Requisition ID: REQ Location: Randwick Applications Close: Midnight on 12 December 2025 Sydney Children's Hospitals Network is the largest paediatric health care entity in Australia. We care for thousands of children each year in our hospitals and in their homes — with one purpose in mind — to help young people live their healthiest lives. What you'll be doing The primary purpose of this role is to support the development of innovative methods and products that improve the use of donated and banked cord blood units for clinical applications and as starting materials for advanced therapies. Operating within a translational research framework, the role involves performing high-quality wet-lab experimentation and data analysis to provide evidence that guides process optimization, product characterization, and regulatory readiness. The role will operate under GMP-like conditions and be embedded in the Cord Blood Bank’s quality and ethical governance systems. Research activities will be designed and executed with a strong emphasis on scientific integrity, reproducibility, and compliance with ethical and biosafety standards. Overall the program will aim to achieve development and validation of robust, scalable laboratory protocols; implementation of quality control measures; and ensure that experimental outputs meet defined specifications that support potential clinical translation. By integrating cord blood biology, cell processing, and analytical techniques, the role contributes to addressing current limitations in cord blood utilisation, such as cell dose, expansion potential, and potency. The role also supports the development of new cellular products or modifications that may expand access to transplantation and advanced cell-based therapies. In addition to hands‑on research, the position requires clear documentation of procedures, results, and deviations, and active collaboration within project teams. It also involves contributing to knowledge through sharing presentations, reports, and scientific publications, as well as engagement with quality, clinical, and regulatory stakeholders. Ultimately, this position plays a key role in advancing the strategic mission of the Cord Blood Bank to realise the full clinical potential of every donated unit. About You A degree in biomedical science, cell biology, immunology, biotechnology, or a related discipline or equivalent work experience or a combination of study and work experience. Proven experience working in a research laboratory environment, ideally with primary human cell culture, stem cell biology, and immunology techniques such as cell isolation, culture, and functional assays. Experience working in or alongside GMP, GxP, or other regulated environments is strongly preferred.
