Join a well-structured team supporting a male quadriplegic (me) living independently with complex health needs, including autonomic dysreflexia. This is an opportunity to deliver high-intensity supports in a safe, organised environment — with full training provided. About the Role You'll work as part of a small team providing personal care, clinical monitoring, and assistance with daily activities that support my safety, health and independence. Shifts: Usually 4 hours, with some longer shifts available Times: Early morning, lunchtime, afternoon or evening on any day. You won't be expected to do more than one shift a day and not on every day of the week, although you can if you wish. Employment: Casual or part-time; ABN workers also considered Pay: Above award, based on experience Training: Buddy shifts provided; you will never be asked to perform a task you have not been trained for This private home environment has clear and established routines and procedures which work for everyone, and staff communicate with each other to ensure consistency. Monitoring for signs of autonomic dysreflexia and following escalation procedures e.g. following my instructions. This is not the only shift routine, but it is ongoing throughout the shift and absolutely essential. Responsibilities Personal care and hygiene support Assisting with transfers and mobility (e.g., preparing wheelchair, hoist use) Supporting bowel and bladder care where required, and after appropriate training Pressure care, skin/wound checks, and general safety monitoring (If you meet most of these, you are encouraged to apply — training will fill in the gaps.) Must‑Have Excellent listening skills — following instructions and routines is essential Willingness to learn structured care procedures and safety protocols Some experience in disability or aged care (a solid foundation is all that’s needed) Minimum of 6 months experience in disability or aged care is required. Comfort working with high‑intensity supports after training. Must have Australian work rights to be eligible for this position. Desirable (Not essential) Experience with autonomic dysreflexia – the specifics can be taught and learned. Catheter care – the specifics can also be taught and learned. Bowel care – if needed and after appropriate training and instruction. Manual handling & hoist transfers. First Aid/CPR – can be arranged if needed. NDIS Worker Screening (optional).
