Landcare Ranger

PCL is seeking an energetic and capable Landcare Ranger to join our growing team. This role is all about on-ground action —planting trees, restoring habitats, managing weeds and feral animals, supporting wildlife, and helping regenerate the places our community cares about. No two days look the same. One day you might be planting native species along a creek, the next you're ground surveying Koalas in the Highlands, collecting seeds in the bush, setting feral cat traps, or supporting community volunteer days. Primary Duties & Responsibilities On-Ground Environmental Work Carry out bushland regeneration, site preparation, tree planting, watering, mulching, and installing plant guards. Conduct manual, mechanical, and chemical weed control following PCL’s SOPs and best-practice land management methods. Assist in habitat restoration, erosion management, revegetation, and rehabilitation across a variety of ecosystems. Undertake flora, fauna, and habitat monitoring activities as required. Support integrated feral animal control projects including spotlighting, trapping and removal. Operate field equipment such as spray units, brushcutters, hand tools, and small machinery safely and efficiently. Project Support & Site Operations Support the delivery of NRM and ecological restoration projects to meet milestones and service agreements. Complete daily site risk assessments, field check sheets, and reporting tasks. Maintain equipment and vehicles in clean and safe working order. Provide practical support to landholders and partners during on-ground works. Teamwork & Community Engagement Work closely with the PCL Coordinator and Senior Project Officer to deliver high-quality field outcomes. Contribute positively to a small, skilled, and supportive environmental team. Assist with volunteer and community planting days, occasionally supervising small groups in the field. Skills & Experience If you’re passionate about working outdoors and either have experience or are keen to start your career in this field, we’d love to hear from you — send through your resume. Desirable - but not essential - training is offered Knowledge of native vegetation, weeds, and land management practices (or the willingness to learn). Ability to use hand tools, spray equipment, brushcutters, and similar equipment. Physically fit and able to work outdoors in all weather conditions. Strong teamwork skills and a positive, proactive attitude. Manual driver’s license (Class C). Certificate II/III in Conservation & Ecosystem Management (or willingness to obtain). ACDC chemical license (or willingness to obtain). First Aid & CPR certification. Experience in revegetation, seed collection, propagation, or ecological restoration.
