We are excited to hire a Senior Data Science Manager for a respected market-leading data and machine learning team in Australia Talented peers, Huge Data, Varied Problems, Impactful End-to-End work & more Join as the manager for a talented 6 person data science team (with hundreds of other data & analytics peers) Focus on building ML and data science products used by other data teams and impacting millions of customers Help implement best practices in ML Ops, guide strategic use of ML, AI and data science for varied business cases In this role, you will work with high calibre data science and engineering peers, leading a team of 5-6 data scientists. You will play a key role in translation and refining business use cases with executive leadership, mentor and provide design/architectural guidance to your team and implement best practices for re-usable, scalable, valuable data and ML products (used by other analytics and data science squads. Location and work set-up: 3 days in office (minimum), Sydney CBD Required Skills & Experience: Minimum of 7 years of professional data science experience (excluding academic and research work) and minimum of 2 years in data science team lead or manager roles Strong experience using: SQL, Python (including major ML libraries), Cloud ML services (GCP preferred), Spark/VertexAI/Databricks/Sagemaker or similar, production-grade code at scale (ideally millions of customers) Experience working from end-to-end in data science; stakeholder engagement, data exploration, data management, research, model selection, feature engineering, model building, testing, deployment & measurement/evaluation Experience with Personalisation/Recommender systems and use of GCP (Google Cloud Platform) is highly advantageous An academic background in statistics, mathematics, actuarial studies or related fields Any consulting or 'internal consulting' work is advantageous Must have full unrestricted working rights and be located in Sydney currently Is this role the right fit for you? While you come from a highly technical background in production data science, you also have excellent stakeholder management, leadership, influencing and strategic skills in large enterprise You’ll enjoy being part of a large community of top-tier Data Scientists, Machine Learning Engineers, Data Engineers and analytics professionals and bring strong understanding of building consumable DS, AI and ML products and artefacts This team has a significant track-record of production ML at scale (GCP, VertexAI and Spark cluster, mature ML Platform) and delivering huge benefits (over $500m+) to the business and millions of customers You will enjoy staying at the cutting edge of ML, but also make pragmatic decisions weighing both business and engineering trade-offs for designing the ‘best solutions’ You are comfortable persuading, influencing and pitching ideas. You can handle some ambiguity and have experience and patience to navigate within complex, large organisations.
