Court Supervisor – Parramatta Children’s Court – Youth Justice Role: Supervise, direct and roster a team of Youth Officers to provide appropriate care and custody of detainees appearing at various courts, ensuring the safety of staff during detainee movements. Location: Parramatta Salary: Level 4, $89,934 – $103,089 per annum, plus employer's contribution to superannuation and annual leave loading. Targeted Recruitment: Preference will be given to candidates who meet the established standards of the role and are of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent, as the Department acknowledges this lived experience contributes a perspective valuable to our work with this community. Responsibilities Supervise and direct a team of Youth Officers to ensure appropriate care, custody and transport of young persons and safety of staff. Provide advice and support to staff on managing young persons and ensure client service delivery plan processes are adhered to and outcomes achieved. Provide direct client supervision of, and support to, young persons as required, monitoring activities to ensure opportunities to engage in services and access personnel for service delivery plans or court processes. Coordinate daily routines and activities and ensure all paperwork for these activities is completed. Mediate between young persons and Youth Officers when disharmony arises. Contribute to the agency’s individual development system. Determine in‑service staff development opportunities and training and ensure roster arrangements allow attendance at these programs. Communicate with centre personnel to keep information on young persons’ behaviour and progress against service delivery plan goals up to date. Qualifications and Experience Completion of Certificate IV in Youth Justice (Youth Work) or Community Services or equivalent plus relevant experience. Possession of, or enrollment in, a “Provide First Aid” Certificate. Possession of a current NSW Driver’s licence. Current NSW Working with Children Check clearance. Desired Skills and Knowledge Knowledge of court‑based procedures, court protocols, understanding of legal mandates and different court jurisdictions. Understanding of the significant trauma and disadvantage young people experience. Ability to display key understanding of the unique sensitive, cultural differences and social complexities of young people, their families and communities.
