We provide commercial and capital advisory services focused on the energy transition and net zero, and corporate and institutional brokerage across energy, carbon and environmental markets. These services are underpinned by a proprietary software platform. CORE Markets is headquartered in Melbourne, with a second office in Sydney. Role Description We are seeking a full-time senior consultant, focused on Australia's National Electricity Market (NEM), with a commercial advisory background. Based in CORE Markets' Sydney or Melbourne office, you will lead or be a member of a 3-4 person team with responsibilities including : Provide advice on project commercialisation to renewables and storage developers, including : optimal spot and contracted mix, pros and cons of alternative offtake structures, and interaction between offtake, project configuration, and project debt financing Provide advice to large energy users (e.g. retailers or C&I customers) on their power procurement needs, including the pros & cons of retail vs. wholesale offtake Run competitive processes to buy or sell offtake linked to renewables and / or storage projects. These c.4-month long processes have three key phases : (ii) soliciting indicative offtake buy / sell offers, and evaluating offers to proceed to best-and-final-offer (BAFO) stage (iii) soliciting BAFOs, analysing results and managing the execution of binding offtake agreements Provide providing power sector expertise (NEM and / or WEM) into other projects and teams as required, including our commercial advisory business and other strategic advisory engagements Focus on project delivery and execution Support business development as needed (e.g. proposal and pitch development), as directed by CORE Markets management team, and Mentor and coach junior members of project teams (analysts and consultants) Note : In this refined version, strong tags have been replaced with bold equivalents per formatting rules. Qualifications 4-6 years' relevant experience in Australia's NEM, working with and for renewable and BESS project developers on project commercialisation Experience in Australia's Wholesale Electricity Market (WEM) is desired but not essential Understanding of the development lifecycle and the multi-disciplinary nature of this work will be highly regarded Experience in financial modelling will be highly advantageous. Strong project delivery and project management skills Strong quantitative skills (MS Excel is sufficient, programming experience is welcome but not essential) Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities Ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written) with diverse stakeholders, and strong interpersonal skills Prior experience in consulting / advisory is desired but not essential How to apply Please provide a copy of your CV and a short cover letter addressing the above requirements.
