Role Overview Join the Queensland Government as a Senior Policy Officer in Strategic Wildlife Operations at the Qld Parks and Wildlife Service and Partnerships. You will help deliver projects and policies that conserve Queensland’s unique wildlife and biodiversity outside of protected areas. The role focuses on developing regulatory solutions, managing human‑wildlife interactions and supporting conservation efforts for species such as crocodiles and flying‑foxes. This temporary full‑time position offers opportunities to lead key project components, shape operational policy and foster a workplace culture of safety, equity, diversity, respect and inclusion. Key Responsibilities Develop and implement innovative policies, strategies and regulatory solutions to support conservation outside of protected areas. Analyse complex data, prepare detailed reports and provide evidence‑based recommendations to improve conservation outcomes. Collaborate with diverse stakeholders—including First Nations communities—and work closely with government agencies, NGOs and the public. Engage with the public, respond to enquiries and build awareness of wildlife management policies. Prepare statutory instruments, guidance materials and wildlife management frameworks under the Nature Conservation Act 1992. Qualifications Strong background in policy development, research and analysis. Excellent communication skills for conveying complex ideas to diverse audiences. Proven ability to manage projects, meet deadlines and work effectively within a team. Knowledge of contemporary approaches to conservation in Queensland, Australia or internationally; or a demonstrated ability to acquire this knowledge quickly.
