Residential Aged Care Visitor – Strathaven – TAS – Afternoon walks Provide social support and companionship to a male in his mid‑80s, who lives in a residential aged care facility in Strathaven. You will help to ease his feelings of social isolation and brighten their day The Role The Aged Care Volunteer Visiting Scheme (ACVVS), funded by the Australian Government, connects volunteers with an older person who is feeling lonely and/or socially isolated, to build friendships and reduce feelings of loneliness. In your volunteer role you will be paired with an aging senior to provide them regular social‑support visits in their home. Activities during your visit are based on yours and your client’s interests and could include conversation, playing board games, listening to music or sharing stories. Get to know someone new and make a difference in your local community Our Client Our client resides in Strathaven and is looking to expand his social network. He was born in Canada and spent many years working in care sales while raising his family. After retiring he relocated to Tasmania and has lots of stories to share. He now enjoys walking around the facility and is looking for someone to go for an afternoon stroll with or have a cup of coffee while chatting. Your visits will help to maintain his community links and reach his goals. Dedicated support and training through the Volunteer Program Access to employee assistance provider (EAP) Be welcomed into genUs friendly and inclusive workplace. About you Enjoys spending time with an older person. Individual who lives in and around Strathaven or happy to travel. Possess clear communication skills. Compassionate, patient and an excellent listener. Passionate about giving back to your community. Conducts yourself with open‑mindedness and respect, ensuring the privacy, confidentiality, and dignity of our clients is always maintained. Comfortable using technology to provide feedback and connect with the Volunteer Program. Availability for a flexible six‑month commitment. Time Commitment One (1) hour per week Monday to Friday, 9am‑5pm. Hours are flexible and arranged to suit your lifestyle and commitments. Job Details Category: Seniors & Aged Care Commitment: Regular - more than 6 months Type Of Work: Companionship & Social Support, Disability Support, Seniors & Aged Care Time Required: One (1) hour per week Monday to Friday, 9am‑5pm.
