We’re seeking a highly motivated Manager to lead the state’s assessment of renewable energy projects. In this pivotal role, you’ll oversee the assessment of applications for solar farms and wind farms as Assessment Manager, leading a team of planners charged with evaluating complex applications under the new impact assessment and community benefit system. These assessments use State Codes, technical expertise, and stakeholder input to ensure renewable energy developments meet rigorous environmental and planning standards while supporting the state’s commitment to sustainability and regional growth. This is a unique opportunity to influence the future of energy infrastructure in Queensland. You'll manage the preparation and provision of expert advice on planning policy, coordinate complex multi‑agency assessments, and help shape the strategic direction of renewable energy development. Responsibilities Lead complex assessments of large‑scale renewable energy projects under the Planning Act 2016, Planning Regulation 2017 and the Planning (Social Impact and Community Benefit) and Other Legislation Amendment Act 2025. Apply and interpret State Development Assessment Provisions (SDAP) including State Code 23 (Wind Farm Development) and State Code 26 (Solar Farm Development). Engage with stakeholders including developers, local governments, First Nations communities and the public to ensure transparent, inclusive planning outcomes. Provide strategic advice to government on planning policy, legislative reform and best practices in renewable energy development. What We're Looking For Proven experience in planning, environmental assessment, or infrastructure development—preferably in renewable energy. Strong understanding of Queensland’s planning legislation and assessment frameworks. Exceptional leadership, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement skills. Ability to manage competing priorities and deliver high‑quality outcomes in a dynamic policy environment.
