Head of Design Operations Lead a high performing technical team in a fast growing SEQ framing business. About the Role The Head of Design Operations owns the end to end operational performance of Steelcraft Group’s detailing department. You will lead workflow planning, job allocation, quality, standards governance, documentation quality, team capability and continuous improvement. You will build a disciplined and high performing team that produces accurate and buildable models and documentation that support fast and reliable manufacturing and installation. The detailing department is growing quickly so this role requires a leader who can scale systems, uplift standards and create a predictable and high quality workflow environment. You will work closely with Production, Construction, Sales and Estimating and the Leadership Team to align priorities and ensure projects flow smoothly through the business. Key Areas of Ownership Workflow planning and forecasting Accuracy, quality standards and First Time Right outcomes Standards governance, libraries, templates and documentation quality Team capability uplift and performance management Root Cause Analysis and quality improvement About You We are seeking a senior leader with experience managing technical design, drafting or detailing teams in environments such as structural steel, prefabrication, modular construction, LGS manufacturing or similar technical operations. Detailing experience is valuable but not essential. What matters most is leadership maturity, operational discipline and a proven ability to build and lead a high performing team. You will bring: Experience leading a technical team in a fast paced environment Strong workflow management and organisational capability Proven ability to drive accuracy, quality and operational consistency Experience improving standards, systems or technical processes Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills A coaching mindset with high expectations and professional standards The ability to lead change and embed clear ways of working Experience with Vertex BD, Tekla, Framecad, MWF, Revit or similar software is advantageous Why Steelcraft?
