Create your best future and join Westpac as Head of Credit Papua New Guinea Whats the role As Head of Credit PNG you’ll lead the credit risk function for one of the most strategically important markets in the Westpac Pacific portfolio. Based in Port Moresby you’ll oversee credit decisions across retail, commercial, corporate and treasury segments, ensuring the portfolio remains strong, resilient and aligned with our risk appetite. You’ll lead a team of credit professionals fostering a high‑performance culture grounded in sound judgement, collaboration and continuous development. Reporting to the Head of Risk PNG you’ll also play a key role in the PNG Extended Leadership Team, contributing to business strategy, regulatory engagement and enterprise‑wide risk governance. This is a full‑time senior leadership role with significant influence and visibility across the business. You’ll be empowered to shape credit strategy, drive portfolio quality and lead with purpose in a fast‑evolving market. You’re someone who can see the big picture while staying close to the detail, balancing commercial outcomes with sound risk management. You’ll be confident engaging at executive level and just as comfortable mentoring analysts or navigating regulatory conversations. Heres what will set you up for success : Proven leadership experience in credit risk with a track record of building and developing high‑performing teams. Deep expertise in credit assessment and structuring across consumer, commercial and institutional segments. Strong strategic thinking and the ability to align credit decisions with broader business and market objectives. Excellent stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence across senior leadership, regulators and cross‑functional teams. A commitment to maintaining a strong risk culture and control environment with a focus on early problem recognition and proactive portfolio management.
