About The Role You will be reporting to the Head of Back Office and Risk with a focus on improving the data tools and systems used by various other teams within the business. Our aim is to improve efficiency by ensuring high data availability and automating as many regular tasks as possible. Many key business functions are reliant on the systems developed by our team so its important that these systems function smoothly with minimal supervision. Reliability is crucial as they operate continuously and the team is responsible for meeting the necessary performance standards. There is a lot of scope for growth with this role across technical quantitative and trading dimensions. This is a hybrid role with 4 days a week in the office 1 day WFH. Your Mission at Life Trading Development of tools and systems which may include Implement ETL / ELT pipelines for a variety of internal and external data sources Process position trade and market data from multiple data sources Compute and display various P&L and risk measures across a variety of trading styles Judicious use of AI tooling with an appreciation for the potential pitfalls Appropriate automated test coverage to ensure high quality software Analysis Identify potential solutions to increase automation of regular tasks Assist with ad-hoc analysis and tasks Develop notebooks dashboards & custom UIs to assist in interpretation of results Data Usage of existing data architectures for storage and analysis Import data into common stores Proactively monitor for and remediate data issues utilizing self-healing pipelines Support Provide ongoing support of relevant production systems including out of hours Continuously improve the monitoring and reliability of systems Other Follow and apply the company values Adhere to all relevant exchange rules regulations and company policies Perform other duties as assigned Report to Head of Data What We’re Looking For Degree in Maths Engineering Computer Science or similar: A strong technical background is essential for solving complex data challenges. Proficiency in Python and SQL: You’ll be using these tools daily for data processing analysis and automation. Interest in data analysis: A passion for uncovering insights from large datasets and driving decisions. Fluent English and strong communication: Clear communication is key when collaborating across teams. Passion for learning: Eagerness to grow and adapt to new technologies and industry trends. Bonus Points For Experience in trading and / or finance: Knowledge of the industry gives you a head start. Small team experience: Collaboration and flexibility in a dynamic environment. Autonomous work: Ability to manage projects independently. Familiarity with tools like Postgres SvelteKit FastAPI Docker Dagster Jupyter Grafana Excel: These tools will help in building and automating systems.
