SESLHD - VMO - Child & Adolescent Psychiatry - Sutherland Hospital Mental Health Service The Sutherland Hospital and Community Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) is seeking to recruit a Visiting Medical Officer in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry located in the Sutherland Shire of Sydney. The role is part of a multidisciplinary team that provides assessment and treatment to young people aged 0‑18 with moderate to severe mental health problems. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with other consultants, psychiatrists, and allied health professionals to deliver high‑quality care. Responsibilities Provide care to community clients in collaboration with other Child and Adolescent Psychiatrists and the multidisciplinary team. Lead clinical governance for the CAMHS team. Coordinate with medical teams regarding admitted adolescent clients. Provide care for CAMHS clients admitted to the acute psychiatric ward where appropriate. Participate in a specialist after‑hours on‑call roster to advise clinicians on children and adolescents presenting to facilities within SE‑SLHD. Engage in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, research, supervision, and professional development. Deliver expert medical assessment and management of patients within the department/service. Qualifications All applications must demonstrate the ability to meet each of the selection criteria in order to progress through the recruitment process. Registration or eligibility with the Medical Board of Australia (AHPRA); applicant must provide AHPRA registration number. Fellowship of the Royal Australian & New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (RANZCP) and/or equivalent specialist recognition, with demonstrated subspecialty training in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry. Evidence of continuing medical education and self‑monitoring/audit practices consistent with the scope of practice requirements. Proven capacity and/or experience in providing high‑quality service, including participation in quality‑improvement activities. Commitment to teaching, with experience in undergraduate and postgraduate education of students, residents, and staff. Demonstrated professional behaviour and modeling of high standards of care as a senior medical practitioner. Effective teamwork and communication skills with multidisciplinary colleagues and patients. Commitment to research relevant to the role and department needs.
