Billing Officer (Radiation Oncology) – Icon Cancer Centre Icon Group is Australia’s largest dedicated cancer care provider, with a growing reach into New Zealand and Asia. Our Australian cancer services division includes day oncology hospitals, radiation oncology centres and comprehensive centres offering medical oncology, haematology and radiation oncology services under one roof, as well as chemotherapy compounding and pharmacy services. About The Role A permanent, full‑time position is available for a Billing Officer to join our team supporting our Radiation Oncology centres across Australia. The role oversees Medicare, Health Fund and Insurance claims from patient treatments delivered across our centres and manages outstanding patient debt. Flexibility is offered to work from the head office in Brisbane, remote from home, or in a hybrid of both. Key Responsibilities Process, compile & distribute medical billing accounts for inpatient, outpatient and other services across multiple locations and states. Follow up any unpaid or rejected items with Medicare, Health Funds, DVA, TAC, WorkCover, Overseas insurers or other relevant agencies. Perform regular debtor follow‑up, investigate and resubmit unpaid invoices while maintaining financial accountability. Report any unpaid invoices or outstanding debtors to the Manager on a routine basis. Ensure all Eclipse, Medicare and health fund rejections are actioned. Liaise with site managers to resolve account issues and debt management. Collate final approved paperwork for Direct Debits required for Trial, SCR and IconPay patients. Review and follow up unreconciled transactions as soon as possible within the month. About You Excellent computer skills, including all MS Office products, and a willingness to learn specialised programs used within the Department. Developed relationship and people skills. Highly developed written and verbal communication skills. Excellent time management, interpersonal and organisational skills. Lateral thinking, problem‑solving and decision‑making skills. Experience in a similar role or in the health insurance industry, including Medicare and Health Fund rulings and billing interpretations.
