We’re looking for an experienced Senior Emergency & Critical Care Veterinary Nurse to join our Gold Coast ECC team. This part‑time, permanent position is ideal for an accomplished Veterinary Nurse ready to take the next step in their career and play a leadership role within a dynamic, multidisciplinary hospital. About the role As a Senior ECC Nurse, you’ll work alongside our Emergency and Critical Care Specialists and Senior Veterinarians, ensuring the highest standard of patient care across all stages of their SASH journey. You will mentor junior nurses, take a leadership role during busy shifts, and perform advanced ECC procedures with confidence and precision. Your day‑to‑day will include: Performing and assisting with advanced ECC procedures including central / PICC / arterial line placement, mechanical ventilation, and high‑flow oxygen therapy. Leading and participating in CPR and critical resuscitations. Overseeing patient triage, ICU admissions, and discharges. Coordinating case flow and supporting ECC team members on shift. Providing mentorship and clinical training to junior nurses. Maintaining a calm, professional presence in high‑pressure situations. Who are we looking for? You are a compassionate, skilled nurse who thrives in an emergency environment and is ready to contribute to a gold‑standard ECC service. You bring leadership, expertise, and a commitment to supporting both patients and team members. To be successful in this role, you will have: Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing (or equivalent qualification). At least 5 years post‑qualification experience, including minimum 2 years in Emergency and Critical Care. Strong knowledge of ECC procedures and critical care anaesthesia. Demonstrated ability to manage complex cases and prioritise in a fast‑paced environment. Excellent communication, teamwork, and mentoring skills. A Veterinary Technician Specialist (ECC) qualification or working towards one will be highly regarded. Flexibility to work weekends, night shifts, and public holidays as part of a rotating roster.
