Waste Management Officer

An opportunity exists for an experienced and community-focused Waste Management Officer to join a high-performing team responsible for delivering critical waste and resource recovery services. In this operational role, you’ll work across a variety of functions — from attending transfer stations and assisting customers, to operating plant and equipment and ensuring compliance with environmental standards. Every day brings the chance to make a tangible difference to how waste is managed and recycled in the region. Key Responsibilities Provide excellent customer service to members of the public and colleagues Perform duties at drop‑off zones, transfer stations, and the weighbridge Conduct labouring tasks including litter collection, weeding, and grounds maintenance Operate relevant plant and equipment safely and effectively Complete required records (e.g. work orders, WHS forms, weighbridge tickets) Contribute to environmental monitoring, site safety, and compliance tasks Work cooperatively as part of a team in a fast‑paced environment What You’ll Need Essential Experience in the waste management or resource recovery industry Physical fitness and willingness to perform hands‑on labour Strong communication skills (written and verbal) Willingness to work shifts, weekends, and outside standard hours Class C driver licence (manual transmission) Immunisation against Hepatitis A & B (or willingness to participate in program) Understanding of WHS, EEO, and safe work practices Desirable Certificate IV in Training & Assessment HR driver licence and driving experience Experience in weighbridge operations and computer systems Front End Loader and/or Forklift ticket White Card (Construction Induction) Knowledge of environmental and risk compliance in waste services Working Near Overhead Powerlines certification Why Apply?
