It is a government secondary school educating students from Years 10 to 12. Most Lakeview Senior College graduates pursue further education in a range of tertiary settings while others undertake professional, business or trade related training and employment. The College has a student population of around 955 in 2023 which means an extensive selection of subjects at each year level is available to students. Hence, every student at Lakeview Senior College is able to undertake a learning pathway tailored to their individual needs. The College maintains a learning focussed environment based on high expectations of students in which academic excellence is promoted and celebrated. Year 10 students at Lakeview study a broad range of subjects which best prepare them for the choices they face in their final 2 years of schooling. Year 11&12 students at Lakeview Senior College select either a VCE (Victorian Certificate of Education) or VCE-VM course (Vocational Major). The choice between VCE and VCE-VM enables students to undertake a breadth of both academic and vocational training courses. Lakeview Senior College has formed successful partnerships with both the Melton and Brimbank Clusters of Schools which enables students to undertake a wider variety of VET courses. We offer a range of facilities: state‑of‑the‑art classrooms with modern Interactive Whiteboards, a fully equipped gymnasium, a community library, playing fields, and more. Our learning environment includes flexible multi‑use learning spaces with ICT, self‑assessment, goal setting, professional learning teams, and strong community links with the Shire of Melton and other schools. We support students’ wellbeing through proactive, individual programmes and family follow‑up meetings. Role Classroom teacher classification comprises two salary ranges – range 1 and range 2. The primary focus of the classroom teacher is on the planning, preparation, and teaching of programmes to achieve specific student outcomes. As teachers gain experience, their contribution beyond the classroom increases, and they may undertake additional duties appropriate to the salary range, qualifications, training, and experience. Range 2 Range 2 teachers play a significant role in improving student performance and educational outcomes, supporting the school strategic plan, and contributing to policy implementation. They are expected to: Demonstrate content knowledge and pedagogical practice to meet the diverse needs of all students Model exemplary classroom practice, mentor and coach other teachers, and support staff to expand their capacity Provide expert advice about content, processes, and strategies that shape individual and school professional learning Supervise and train one or more student teachers Assist staff in using student data to inform teaching approaches to achieve targets related to improving student learning outcomes Range 1 Range 1 teachers further develop skills and competencies to become effective classroom practitioners under structured support and guidance. Responsibilities include classroom management, subject content, teaching practice, and participation in policy development and school priorities. New entrants receive mentoring and guidance from higher‑level teachers. Responsibilities Direct teaching of groups of students and individual students Contributing to the development, implementation and evaluation of a curriculum area or other curriculum programme within the school Undertaking other classroom teaching related and organisational duties as determined by the School Principal Participating in activities such as parent/teacher meetings, staff meetings, camps and excursions Undertaking other non‑teaching supervisory duties Selection Criteria SC1 Demonstrated knowledge of the relevant curriculum, including the ability to incorporate literacy and numeracy skills. Demonstrated experience in responding to student learning needs. SC2 Demonstrated experience in planning and implementing high‑impact teaching strategies, guided by how students learn, and evaluating the impact on student learning growth. SC3 Demonstrated experience in monitoring and assessing student learning. Demonstrated use of data to inform teaching practice and providing feedback on learning growth and achievement. SC4 Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills. Demonstrated experience in establishing and maintaining collaborative relationships with students, parents, colleagues, and the broader school community. SC5 Demonstrated behaviours and attitudes consistent with Department values. Demonstrated experience in reflecting on practice and engaging in professional learning to continually improve quality of teaching. Qualification Requirements The person must have provisional or full registration approved by the Victorian Institute of Teaching. If the person completed an Australian postgraduate level initial teaching programme or course of study on or after 1 January 2024, they must demonstrate satisfactory completion of a postgraduate level accredited initial teacher education programme. Persons who graduated from a Victorian Initial Teacher Education programme after 1 July 2016 must also demonstrate that they have passed the LANTITE requirements.
