Join to apply for the Caseworker role at Queensland Government Overview Caseworkers provide professional intervention to young offenders subject to youth justice intervention, with the aim of reducing re-offending. As a Caseworker, you will specifically: Demonstrate cultural capability and/or a commitment to developing cultural capability to ensure an inclusive culture that aligns with the Human Rights Act 2019 and supports departmental programs and community partnerships aimed at preserving cultural connections for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Work effectively within a statutory environment to manage the dual roles of monitoring young offenders’ compliance with court orders and intervening to address issues that place them at risk of re-offending. Role specific/technical skills You understand the impacts of historical and contemporary policy and practices upon Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. You have a demonstrated ability to engage and communicate effectively, and with humility, with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Work will be required to be performed within the spread of hours 0600 to 1800. At times work may be required to be performed outside of the spread hours. Remuneration, or otherwise, for work performed outside the spread of hours will be determined with the applicable Awards provision. Officers are required to drive government vehicles as a part of their day-to-day work, therefore, it is a requirement that the applicant hold a current "C" Class Drivers licence. It is mandatory for the occupants of this role to have possession of a tertiary degree relevant to the role such as social work, behavioural science or social science, criminology, or other recognised degree. The department recognises that people who have tertiary degrees other than those listed above may possess a skill set that is appropriate for this role. The applicant needs to demonstrate completion of a minimum of six (6) subjects that cover at least four of the following seven areas: please refer to full role description for details of subjects.
