Role Summary Publishing Assistant – part‑time, 4 days per week (18‑month contract) Cancer Council NSW is Australia's leading cancer organisation, dedicated to supporting all people affected by cancer. The role is based in the Cancer Information and Support Services (CISS) Division, which produces printed, online, podcast and video resources to empower people with cancer and their families. Key Responsibilities Work closely with the Publishing Coordinator and Web Content Specialist to assist in the publishing process of the Understanding Cancer series and other information resources Prepare Word file from previous edition for editor Provide research support to editorial team, as required Create web‑ready PDFs of booklets and other resources Upload PDF files of completed resources onto the Cancer Council website Assist in uploading resource content to the Cancer Council website, accurately proofread web content, and undertake basic online editing of web content Prepare files for archiving and archive all resources produced by Cancer Information Assist with proofreading as required Support the clinical review process of Cancer Council information resources Assist the Publishing Coordinator with coordinating review panels and liaising with external clinical reviewers and stakeholders Maintain production schedule and communicate with key stakeholders regarding schedule changes Archive reviewer and consumer feedback on the internal archiving system Assist with communication and promotion of the Understanding Cancer resources Assist in the promotion of resources, including by writing articles for internal news and newsletters, Online Community, and volunteer communications; and managing communications to internal and external distribution partners as directed Provide general administration support to the team Carry out a range of administrative duties, including digital and physical archiving Support the distribution of print resources, processing of invoices, and accurate record keeping Develop and maintain forms, spreadsheets, process documentation and presentations, as required Maintain relevant databases, including book reviews/reviewers database Identify and embrace opportunities to optimise processes Undertake specific projects as requested by the Design Lead or Manager About You – Essential Qualifications Demonstrated superior organisational skills and meticulous attention to detail Demonstrated ability to learn new software and processes quickly Advanced skills in Microsoft Word and Outlook, and intermediate skills in Excel and PowerPoint Basic experience in Adobe Acrobat and WordPress Excellent language and communication skills (both written and oral) Experience in working effectively with stakeholders at all levels Demonstrated ability to carry out specified procedures accurately Experience working as part of a busy team and autonomously Demonstrated flexibility and ability to operate effectively in a dynamic and changing environment across multiple projects, while adhering to deadlines Ability to keep accurate records and update databases Experience providing administrative support Desirable Qualifications Relevant tertiary qualifications Previous experience in working in a web and/or print publishing environment Proofreading and professional writing skills Basic experience with design software including InDesign Knowledge of oncology cancer services in Australia and the needs of people affected by cancer Experience working with priority populations Experience compiling data and writing reports Previous experience in a not‑for‑profit or community‑based organisation or health industry Benefits Generous salary packaging options that can increase your take home pay by paying certain expenses using pre‑tax dollars up to $15,900 a year Recognised for Voice Project's 2021 and 2023 “Best Workplace” Award, as well as Xref “Best Workplace” in 2025 A balanced organisational approach to WFH and office Additional performance‑based leave available Work for purpose and know that your work fosters an engaged, diverse and culturally aware organisation Discounts available for everyday expenses such as private health, retail and fitness CCNSW is an inclusive place to volunteer and work.
