Field Service Technician

JOB DESCRIPTION AND PURPOSE The individual’s responsibility will be to undertake day to day service and repairs, assembly/installation activities within the Branch and undertake field maintenance activities and perform service call outs. PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES AND OBJECTIVES Service, maintenance and fault rectification of two way radio communication products and systems Undertaking programming of Analogue, DMR, P25 & Tetra radio systems Performing triage and Level 1,2 and 3 repairs of two way radio equipment Organize final inspection, testing and packaging as required Perform testing of equipment Be part of an On-Call roster for afterhours servicing Servicing and maintaining base sites Comply to Service Level and Maintenance Agreements. Provide support to the business for training, installations, commissioning and maintenance when requested Support warehouse activities where required To perform all work at a high level of quality To deliver a 90% level of utilisation Follow company processes and procedures as directed by management Conduct personal behaviour and work in accordance with all OH&S requirements and management directives Identify opportunities to promote and expand the service options available to the customer To flag and report common repair or service issues to management Comply with company & local standards, procedures & protocols with specific responsibility for performance to key performance indicators Represent Simoco in a professional manner at all times, both externally and internally and support the adoption of the Simoco corporate culture All reasonable additional duties as instructed by Simoco which may vary from time to time as required meeting the needs of the business. CORE COMPETENCY - SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/QUALIFICATIONS: Skills and abilities to support repair of Simoco and third party two-way radio equipment, including portable and mobile radios and radio infrastructure spanning a wide range of technologies including: analogue, conventional, trunked, P25, Tetra and DMR Maintain High competence in Networks and infrastructure including repeaters, digital links, IP linked networks, dispatchers and desk consoles. To perform repairs at a high level of quality A flexible attitude and an ability to multitask and who is proactive with a hands on approach Willingness to travel and share on-call duties. GENERAL COMPETENCY - SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/QUALIFICATIONS: Education to certificate IV in Electronics & Communications Must have at least five years of experience working as a service technician. Radio Frequency experience preferred but not required. Ability to prioritize and co-ordinate several jobs at once, multi-task IT literate with good working knowledge of all relevant Microsoft Office applications Willingness to follow internal processes and procedures at all times Willingness to contribute to improving processes and procedures Ability to take ownership of an issue and can see things through until the end Self-motivated with a positive outlook Good communicator with effective oral and written communications skills and be able to articulate thoughts and ideas to others Excellent organisational, presentation and written skills Good positive mental attitude, “Whatever it takes”, “Can Do” attitude OTHER JOB REQUIREMENTS: This position requires a professional demeanour and an orientation toward excellent customer services Must dress in a professional manner Must have a valid driving license and good driving record. Must be flexible in work habits and work schedule Must have demonstrated a record of good work attendance and reliability Must have the ability to maintain good working relationships with peers, other employees, and industry professionals WORK SCHEDULE: The role has a schedule that flexes around the need but typically is based on a Monday – Friday 08:00 to 5:00 pm availability. Willingness to support any other responsibilities or duty’s as required by the business from time to time Service Technician may be allocated to the call out roster in support of major 24/7 maintenance contracts.
