Responsibilities Work collaboratively with local APAC UW teams on the underwriting of a wide range in size and complexity of new and existing Surety account submissions to ensure that submissions comply with Surety's APAC underwriting guidelines. Be first line of contact for new and existing facility discussions in APAC. Make thorough evaluations and assessments of a contractor's financial, technical, organizational, and management capacities, as well as a subjective judgment of character, normally based upon data / insights provided by the field organization. In some cases, meet with clients to facilitate these assessments. Make appropriate recommendations to Senior Office of Underwriting staff on business above authority level or outside of standard underwriting guidelines. Monitor existing books of business from an underwriting standpoint using analytical tools. Participate in local APAC team meetings / portfolio reviews. In collaboration with APAC Field Office UW / management, recommend, implement and monitor milestones and potential exit strategy on accounts showing high risk trends. Coordinate and surface issues to Senior Office of Underwriting staff and Bond Managers in the field offices on a timely basis. Subject to local delegation levels, work independently on most standard new bond requests with guidance from leadership on more complex programs and transactions. Demonstrate and utilize strong relationship skills to develop and maintain rapport with field underwriters and managers, brokers, customers, and external organizations. Undertake meetings in APAC with clients and brokers as agreed with local APAC Field Underwriters and Senior Office of Underwriting Management. Contribute to an effective team environment by interacting professionally with all team members and providing development, support and assistance as required. Take responsibility and show initiative in the development of own technical and soft skills. Demonstrate behavior in line with Liberty values at all times. Experience & Skills Degree in Business or equivalent required. Minimum of 7 years of Surety UW experience and / or other related experience with progressive responsibility desired. Strong analytical, problem solving, decision-making and technical underwriting skills to evaluate and judge underwriting risks within scope of responsibility. Strong negotiating, emotional intelligence, written and verbal communication skills are required. Demonstrated ability to communicate complex analyses and information in understandable written and / or oral directives to other persons in the organization for underwriting or training purposes. Detail oriented with excellent ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment. Strong economic, political, market and current affairs understanding and knowledge. Strong collaboration and teamwork skills. Proficient in PC based systems such as Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and database systems.
