Senior Policy and Governance Officer Branch : Strategy and Policy Division : Disability Reform Salary : Level 6, $120,457 - $132,753 per annum (pro‑rata) (PSCA 2024) Work Type : Permanent - Full Time FTE : Location : East Perth Closing Date : 2026‑01‑05 12 : 00 PM Attachments : - This is a permanent full‑time position commencing February 2026 The Directorate The Department of Education's Disability Reform Directorate has a key role in leading the Department's program of work that sets the direction and longer‑term disability reform plan for public education. This will involve working across the agency and whole of government, with ongoing engagement and consultation with key stakeholders, to strengthen access and services across the public education system. The Directorate has responsibility for progressing commitments made by the State Government, including but not limited to those related to the WA implementation Roadmap for the Disability Royal Commission, State Disability Strategy, and other reviews and reports. The Role The role will undertake key policy functions such as research, analysis and report writing, as well as supporting the Disability Reform team. The role will work collaboratively across the Disability Reform Directorate, the entire Department and external key stakeholders in the delivery of the disability reform priorities. This will require you to use skills, knowledge and experience to work with the Manager and Principal Policy and Governance Officer to : Review and analyse major disability and education policy settings and reforms and prepare strategic advice for senior stakeholders Conduct high‑level research and critical analysis to develop system‑wide strategies, policies and initiatives addressing complex disability reform issues Facilitate program governance by ensuring decision‑making process align with legal and policy obligations, and provide guidance on policies and procedures. Work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders. Demonstrated highly developed research, analytical, conceptual and problem‑solving skills including the ability to identify and clarify patterns and trends, process improvements and provide innovative thinking in problem solving. Demonstrated highly developed written communication skills including extensive experience in the preparation of Ministerials, briefings, policy and complex reports. Demonstrated highly developed verbal and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to undertake high level consultations and negotiations. Demonstrated highly developed program and project management skills including project methodology, planning, coordination, implementation and evaluation.
