About the Role Our Federal Government Client is seeking a Chief Information Officer (CIO). This is a contract role for an initial term of 6 months, with extension options of up to 6 months. The position offers hybrid working arrangements and can be based in QLD, ACT, VIC, NSW, or SA. As the Selected Candidate, You Will Oversee and manage the IT & Data Governance Branch, including direct supervision of Executive Directors and Directors, and associated staffing and contractor budgets. Manage delivery of digital services, solutions, budgets, and operational responses, ensuring governance and testing arrangements for all ICT initiatives. Develop, review, and present clear and concise written material for a wide audience, including correspondence, briefings, guidelines, submissions, and governance papers. Build and maintain constructive relationships with senior stakeholders, board members, and external advisors. Contribute to the achievement of organisational roles and functions as part of the executive team. Collaborate closely with shared services partners and other government agencies. To Be Successful In This Role You Should Have High-level strategic approach with proven experience managing complex technology portfolios and projects. Demonstrated experience in data strategy leadership roles, including governance, programming, reporting, and analytics. Proven expertise with data technologies. Highly developed communication and relationship-building skills, with ability to influence senior stakeholders and boards. Experience managing geographically dispersed teams and coordinating multiple priorities under tight timeframes. Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline or minimum 5 years’ experience in senior ICT, digital government, or service delivery roles. Due to security clearance requirements for this role, candidates must be Australian citizens with a Negative Vetting 1 security clearance (or ability to obtain).
