System Manager

We currently have an opportunity for a System Manager in Canberra to work on Joint projects. Join our Downer Professional Services team and play a key role in delivering complex defence and national security projects that safeguard Australia's future. Downer Professional Services is comprised of two business units, our Technical, Advisory, and Capability consulting practice and Team Downer, a major service partner to Defence. Together, we are a multi-disciplinary advisory and delivery partner of choice for our clients in Defence and National Security. What You'll Do This role offers a broad scope, with key role responsibilities including: Manage and deliver sustainment activities in line with CAF16 mandates, including acquisition and refresh coordination. Oversee vendor performance and contract compliance, ensuring effective system and contractor management. Coordinate engineering certification, security accreditation, and system change management processes. Engage with stakeholders such as ADF system sponsors and users to support capability assurance. Lead financial and risk management efforts, addressing obsolescence and emerging issues impacting system ownership. What You'll Bring Experience in Air Force and/or ADF capability acquisition and sustainment management. Strong understanding of operational aviation environments, including methodologies, tools, and governance. Knowledge of enterprise-scale IT application architecture and related management processes. Background in information technology and/or military project management. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills. Due to the nature of the work, you are required to currently hold and maintain a minimum Negative Vetting 1 or higher Security clearance as required by the Commonwealth. In some instances, compliance with International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) requirements may also be an inherent requirement.
